Secret Service agent, ex-Navy SEAL, Olympic-caliber skier. Scot Harvath saves the day. a key piece of evidence, it turns out.In this abridged CD version of the book, reader Armand Schultz has a great repertoire of voices for the various characters. Harvath is the lone survivor, protecting the President's daughter from a similar fate. It's personal.Harvath rejects the orders from his bosses in the Secret Service to stay away, and from the FBI to leave the investigation to them. This shortened version was a bit too. He has his friends to avenge, his reputation to salvage, and his President to rescue. As with other books of this genre, the bad guys are really bad, and the good guys save the day. Scot Harvath has the experience and training to protect the President. But the President is kidnapped, and his entire Secret Service entourage is killed. He can even prevent milk chocolate from melting under his coat.
Author Brad Thor had us wince, laugh, and groan at some of the situations and cliched conversational banter, but I did want to find out how the story ended. Surprise. I suspect the unabridged version of the book is the more interesting and satisfying edition. abridged.
I needed something to read on my flight to Lana'i Hawaii for my vacation and after digging around a bit I almost chose Brad Thor's latest novel "Foreign Influence" Foreign Influence: A Thriller (Scot Harvath). President. It's a great first book for Brad Thor. Through a series of events, domestic and international, Scot finds himself in a variety of death defying situations that force him to use every bit of his training and experience to survive.
His first book and the subject of this review is "The Lions of Lucerne" The Lions of Lucerne. government. But I discovered he had several previous books out with the same main character so I figured I'd start at the beginning.
The intrigue and plot involves the FBI, CIA, NSA, Secret Service and other high levels of the U.S. It is well written, fast paced and hard to put down. You are introduced to Scot Harvath an agent of the U.S. Secret Service protecting the President of the United States and his daughter.
You also meet up with ruthless terrorists, assassins and elements within out own government bent on extracting millions of dollars after kidnapping the U.S. I look forward to reading the rest of his books right up to "Foreign Influence" and beyond.
What a great book- this is my first introduction to Brad Thor and the hero Scott Harvath. Very creative, twisting plots- sure our hero is unbeatable, collects some bumps and bruises along the way but what a great action book. Scott Harvath is like a modern day Jack Bauer- absolutely loved the book and now I'm onto State of the Union.
Double check. Check.
This was just what the doctor ordered. I've been looking for some easy reading on my Kindle and ran across good reviews for Brad Thor's books.
